WHO WE ARE
Our Pastor
Caren Ellison is the Founder and Pastor of Word to Life Church and Outreach Ministries, in Oakridge, TN.
At the age of 9, Caren accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, Throughout her childhood, Caren was raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord. She served on the Jr. Ushers board, Children’s-Youth Choir, and attended weekly Sunday school classes and activities. It was during this time that the Lord raised Caren up to become an anointed vocal instrument of praise- cultivating her fiery strong character into that of an authentic leader.
In 1996, Caren answered the call of God to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Through pastoral care and training, and under the covering of Bishop Martha Thomas, House of God Church (Nashville, TN), Caren received her ministerial license, evangelical/missionary assignments and Elder ordination. Elder Caren continued to grow in grace, ministering the Gospel of Christ through evangelizing, preaching, teaching and singing engagements. Accordingly, she started a spiritual youth boot camp ministry in her home, joined the Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel Choir, and became an ambassador of sponsorship for the Water Angels Missions Ministries. She has written and performed gospel music, all to propel the ongoing mission of Christ throughout the world.
In 2014, Elder Caren united with Bishop Kelvin Leavy, of Judah Temple of Praise Church in Nashville, TN. She began holding small group bible study gatherings. In that same year, she was ordained to serve as Pastor in the 11th Diocese and started Word to Life Church and Outreach Ministries. Her entire life points to God, the Bishop of her soul. Truly, the Lord has anointed her to serve in these various giftings for over 25 years.
Pastor Caren is a veteran of the United States Navy, where she served for six years. She currently works as a Program Manager Educational & Scholarship Instructor for the VA Hospital, Nashville, TN. She holds a BSA & MBA in Healthcare Management. Pastor Caren's life actualizes her favorite scripture, found in Genesis 1:26-27. A native of Nashville, TN, Pastor Caren is the wife of Anthony Ellison and mother to four children: Anthony Isaac, Christianna, Kozie, and Hope.
OUR MINISTRY
Word to Life was conceived and birthed out of a pivotal time in Pastor Caren's life when she reached a crossroad. She was determined not to allow her history, which was headed for destruction to write the narrative of her destiny- a worldwide ministry. Called to reach a generation, her passion is to help those who need the same miraculous life changing power of deliverance and healing. The foundation of "Word to Life" is based on the belief that the Word of God will make the difference in the anyone's life. Word to Life Church and Outreach Ministries is now reaching the nations, through onsite and online worship, bible study, and prayer/revival services.
